NCAA Division II Eligibility Requirements

Division II runs the same 16-core-course structure as D1 with a lower line — 2.2 — and a different subject split. For thousands of athletes it's the sweet spot: real athletic scholarships with an achievable academic bar.

Common questions

Is D2 easier to qualify for than D1?

The GPA line is lower (2.2 vs 2.3) and there's no 10/7 lock, so senior-year grades can still move your best-16. Structurally it's the same 16-core-course system.

Can I start at D2 and transfer to D1?

Yes — transfer eligibility is a separate rulebook, but competing and succeeding academically at D2 is a common route into D1 programs.
