J.B. caught 113 passes for 1,334 yards at Colgate — 74 receptions as a senior on the Raiders' 15–1 team that reached the NCAA Division I-AA national championship game. He began his coaching career as the offensive quality control coach overseeing the running backs under Joe Paterno at Penn State, coached at Illinois, served as wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of New Mexico, and went on to direct high school relations at Syracuse — work centered on evaluating prospects and building relationships with high school coaches. In between, he spent five years coaching at a tuition-free middle school in Washington, D.C. Those chairs add up to a rare view of every side of the student-athlete journey: the talented player, the family that did everything they were told, and the overlooked academic requirements that can decide a student's future as much as ability does. Today J.B. is an educator and coach at Mater Dei School in Bethesda, Maryland, and serves as Board Chair of Spring Bilingual Montessori Academy in Kensington, Maryland.

Madieu Williams

Nine NFL seasons and the 2010 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year

Madieu was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, moved to Maryland at nine, and played nine NFL seasons for Cincinnati, Minnesota, San Francisco and Washington. In 2010 the league named him Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year — its award for what a player does when he isn't playing. He gave $2 million to the University of Maryland to create a center for global health, and his foundation funded a primary school in Calaba Town, Sierra Leone, built so children there could attend without paying. The Big Ten gave him its Dungy-Thompson Humanitarian Award in 2024. He sits on the boards of two WCAC high schools and on the Board of Trustees at Bennett College. He knows what the recruiting process asks of a family, and what carries once the recruiting is over.

Howard was a four-year letterwinner at Colgate, the same class as J.B. He made the Patriot League All-Rookie team as a freshman, captained the team as a senior, took All-Patriot League Tournament honors in 2004, and finished with 1,201 career points — sixteenth on the school's all-time scoring list, with a top-ten field-goal percentage. He grew up in Washington, D.C. and played at Gonzaga College High School, and he has spent the two decades since coaching and teaching in D.C. schools. He is now Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach and Director of Academic Support at Georgetown Preparatory School — the varsity bench and the academic office held by the same person, which is the exact problem this product was built around.

Why it exists

The NCAA does not compute eligibility from your report-card GPA. It computes it from sixteen approved core courses, forced into a fixed subject distribution, on an unweighted scale that ignores plus and minus. A 3.4 on a transcript and a 2.1 core GPA live together all the time.

Most families find that out in the spring of senior year — after the ten courses that count toward D1 progression are already locked. At that point the honest advice is a junior-college year, and the athlete usually hears it from someone who has never met them.

Everything here works backwards from that phone call. If a tool doesn't help someone avoid it, we don't build it.

Never sell the warning

If an athlete is about to lose a year of eligibility, they find that out for free — no account, no card. We sell the plan for fixing it and the tracking that catches it early. We do not sell the bad news.

Every number here traces back to a rule you can look up. Core GPA is computed the way the NCAA computes it, best 16 and all, and the page shows which of your courses filled which requirement.

Say what we don't know

Course classification is a best guess until your school's approved list confirms it, and we say so where it matters rather than in a disclaimer nobody reads. A tool that sounds certain about eligibility it can't verify does real damage.
