What GPA does a New Hampshire athlete need to play NCAA sports?
The same national standard as everywhere: a 2.3 core-course GPA for Division I full qualification and 2.2 for Division II, calculated from your best 16 NCAA-approved core courses. Since August 2023 there is no SAT/ACT requirement — eligibility is GPA-only.
Is NHIAA eligibility the same as NCAA eligibility?
No — and this is the mistake that costs athletes. NHIAA rules decide whether you can play for your high school this season. NCAA rules decide whether you can compete in college. You can be fully eligible under NHIAA and still miss the NCAA line, because the NCAA counts only approved core courses on a 4-year clock that starts the first day of 9th grade.
Do New Hampshire athletes still need SAT or ACT scores for the NCAA?
No. The NCAA permanently retired the SAT/ACT sliding scale for students enrolling after August 1, 2023. Test scores can still matter for admissions and scholarships at specific colleges — just not for NCAA initial eligibility.
